What A Lovely Day...

Late last night, I was serenade by my mom's singing, my kids n hubby singing... Today, terbangun awal becoz my father decided to join too.... Checked my FB whilst I wait for my coffee, saw my MIL's well wishes msg.

I had to repeatedly empty my fon sms memory space, becoz of the the lovely msg from my great old friends.

Life is good. I have no complaints.

I found a lovely poetry about marriage....
I also felt that friends are some people we are married to while makin our way in life... They're always near in my heart (tho not in bed...) so, here's a lovely writing I found while blogwalking.....

Kawan.... Golongan penting dlm hidop yang normal...
Umor 7-12, 13-17, 18-21 ... more than half of our daily time revolves around kawan2 kita.
Dari sekolah, tuisyen siang, tuisyen mlm....
dari makmal ke DK (dewan Kuliah)...
dari dorm mate to housemate...
best galfriends..rakan tiru meniru sampai ada secret language/sign....
best friends forever...

Mostly our friendship bond akan cut off or mula slow down (if there was a curve graph I could show) when we start going off to different uni's... start working... get married....

Phone number rumah yg dulunya hafai dlm kepala pon dah lupa... sapa yang IT savvy mungkin keep in touch via Friendster (maybe dah migrate to Facebook kot)...

I love Facebook... it has managed to menemukan most of my friends dari umor 3 tahun till now. Gila kan coverage Facebook nih? Great invention..

But again, kadang kala bila lama tak jumpa after more than 15 years...
Do we get tongue tied?
Do we stumble to find words to say or start conversation?
Long awkward silence not knowing what to ask?
1 minute feels like 1 hour, moving slowly... u can't wait to get home and get on with your own life agenda

Borak sakan sampai tak ingat pukol brapa, anak.. laki dok langut pikir, bila bini aku nak balik?
Both of you guys cannot wait to tell your story of life?

Hinggakan you felt as if time has quickened, you wish you stay on together just a bit more?

Time heal & mends broken heart BUT is ALSO the perfect challenge to know how true & strength of your friendship. Pernah dengar jaoh di mata, dekat di hati? Perfect peribahasa Melayu.

The truth is not how frequent you go out  for teh tarik with ur friends, it is more of a quality over quantity. Once a while meet up is juz what we need to keep the bond going.

Recipe Ginger Crab

Ginger Crab Recipe

Marinade-
4 ekor Ketam dah kopek cantik
telor 2 bijik (pukul n curah atas ketam, kasi gaul mesra)
salt and pepper skit
tepong jagong 1 sudu besau

Cincang Haluih-
Halia muda 2 inchi
Garlic 5 ulas

Daun bawang (part hijau potong 1inch length, part puteh hiris halus-nnt tumis skali ngan halia & garlic)
Cili padi ketok 3 biji
Cuka 1 sudu besar
Stok ayam 3 sudu besar

Cara2Nya :
1. Tumis halia, cili, garlic, part puteh daun bawang...
2. Letak cuka, nnt kluar bunyi best ala ala Iron chef
3. Campak ketam marinade, tambah stok ayam with garam n gula skit.
4. Gaol kaw kaw.. then tutop periok jap... ketam dah tukar merah, kuah pon pekot, then campak daun bawang hijau tu... Siap

Project Make Over - Greecian Princess/Goddess

 Coolest make over project! A friend of mine was kind enuff to trust me to give her a total make over aka beauty consultant for her  husband's company grand dinner recently. I was her personal shopping assistant for a day at OneUtama & I hope she enjoyed herself as much as I did!
We sat down to discuss what/which look she wanted to go for, accessories, etc. It is always good to have a plan which both party's agrees mutually so that everybody is happy with the outcome. We look for the best price, compared with the best budget & even got a bargain for the evening bag... (unfortunately, not in pic) ..
Overall, she look incredibly regal & exudes royalty confidences with the Greecian look....

Healthy Snack .. For A Change (Instant Oats with Nuts & Raisins)

I know, I know... mostly the foods I post here is not very diet friendly...
What can I say, I like my food full bodied, creamy & dangerously tasty... portion in rations though.. to make sure nobody dies of coronary problems...

So, for a change... here is a healthy snack created by hubby...
Apparently if you go on looking for healthy snacks in the snack/cereal aisle in supermarkets... you'll find there loads of cereal, grains (pet food if you ask me!) mixed with dried fruits & nuts too.... You know all those muesli bars & I don't know if you notice these pet food.. sorry.... healthy snacks is quite expensive.
For a box of 4 or 6 piece is almost RM20 bucks or even more!

So, what he did was buy an instant oatmeal from the supermarket, almonds, pumpkin seed, raisins from my favorite bakery shop (Bagus KD) .. toast them up, mix 'em up..... SIAP.

Nak makan, add hot water & instant low fat powder milk with a tad of brown sugar... and there u go.... Yummy, crunchy snack! Even I, who wasn't on diet found the whole thing nice!

Bedtime Scare.... When Ur Babies Gets Their Own Bed

When their tiny babies, it is much easier to put them to sleep together in our own bed rather then their crib.
Reason is, senang tak yah susah bangun pi jauh2 nak tepok kalo they start crying or nak susu or nak juz check if they're OK.

My reason would be for the plain fun & comfort of snuggling wiv the kids.

But when it gets too crowded... & not too comfortable anymore with their constant tido buas nak mampoih....their kakis & toes goin up our noses.....  and risking either them..... or the dad falling off the bed... then you know it is enevitable to get them to sleep in a separate bed. It seems the westerners start separating the beds much earlier than us Asian... for whatever reasons....

The initial part will be tough... dealing with the crying and keeping oour will strong against their pitiful plea & whimpers.... but slowly, as it goes they will associate with their new bed.

& suddenly the usually overcrowded be is now so empty, spacious..... hmmm.... then the parents get lonely and end up making new baby... OK, terlalu fast forward plok dohh.....

But last night, there was loud crashing thunders around 4am... both kids bolted up & suddenly dah ada kat tepi aku kiri, kanan... sepantas kilat. Nak tergelak pon ader..... dalam mamun....

Why do cake crack on top & How to prevent it

Antara masalah normal when baking cake..... kan?

Kalo makan sendiri, tak pa la ada crater besar kat kek tu... maybe buleh cover ngan icing ke...ganache ker...

But kalo nak jual? Or nak kasi tetamu ? Takkan nak slice off the top part? Kalo u all mkn tak pa, jgn buang plak.... rugi tau... best part of cake is the crust.

So, here is compilation of few websites mengenai masalah cake dome and cracks on top. For me, I dah jumpa my solutions...

My oven is about my age... which means lama dah..... And it is small oven....

So, small space and big cake (2kg)...will lead to the cake doming and cracking....

BCOZ :
1) Distance iron heated ngan top part of the cake dekat.... causing the top part to form a crust too soon, before the whole cake finish cooking/rising.

SO:
I cover my cake mixture loosely ngan tin foil.

Jangan rapat airtight punya style plak! Nnt condensation plak.... cake ko jadi pudding plok

.
Then foil tu, cucuk skit ngan pisau kasi ada lubang2....
Especially when doing cheese cake... (ini petua kakak ipaq I)

Then when the cake dah full rise/masak about 3/4 done, you remove the foil so the top part crust can form without doming or cracking.

Objective here is:
making sure the heat distribution is sama rata....
making sure cake masak sekata... cake almost fully cooked before forming top crust.
Don't let the cake form top crust before cake has fully risen.



There are of course other reasons...
overmixing ... mix sampai all ingredients incorporated ajer
cold mixture telor ke susu dr fridge terus masok dlm adunan.... over masak... check ur cake when cooking, when garfu goes out clean it is cooked... turn off heat immediately, biar dlm oven
tak cukup moisture (esp in cheese cake) ....

So, kalo korang nak check out the full story untuk research, please visit link below... saya malas nak copy paste... nnt kena kata plagiarise kang weih.... but anyways.... you got to try and try... my method may not be suitable for everyone... contoh if u have a big ass Rubine oven berkuasa 100watt ke aper... then u dont have my problems of space kan? But ur cake still cracks? Ini kena check the other reasons above lah...
