Home makeover project - Wood effect VINYL flooring ( looks like wood floorboard right, but it is NOT)

I was hoping nak buat before and after comparison of the total house makeover... TAPI

My earlier photos corrupted and only recently found d cables of my camera (charger masih hilang...arrgghhh)
SO, only bits and pieces of the photos are available.... nak blog pon takder mood tau....

But anyways.... kita make do with what we have....

So, one of our challenges we had with the home makeover was ...

TASK ONE :
Pink tiles in the kitchen & porch
Why:
We don't really adore pink shades... and having pink tiles in the dining area made us feel like we're inside a toilet... blergh...

So, yes...some of you may say.... tuko jer ler tiles.....

The prob is nak kena upah tukang remove existing tiles pulok..... and that takes time. Aduhaiii....

So, terjumpa la this wood effect Vinyl flooring from Coco... cantik, murah and DIY....

Ape lagi, suka la hati kami.... Vinyl flooring ni tahan ayaq (kalo tumpah skit2)... mop ker..... and mmg sesuai apply over the tiles. We had fun putting it together....

I think some may think that this is normal floorboard kayu kalo pandang dr pic.... but it is NOT. Ini vinyl flooring yang dibuat untuk nampak mcm floorboard kayu..siap ngan texture kayu lagi. Vinyl floor ni mcm tikar minyak la gak, but it is thicker and more durable....

Harga dia.... Korang budget dlm RM4 per sqf... then glue vinyl is RM50 per tong... skirting/edging dia aku dah lupa harga.... 9kaki RM25 kot...

Mula2, korang lay down style mana korang nak... herringbone ke, dino bone ker.... kami buat ala parquette aje....
Then, mana nak kena kerat.... kerat siap2....
Apply glue... sector by sector..... tunggu dia tacky/melekit... then korang stick on the vinyl.

TADA!!

hehehe... so how much all you spent for all?

what do you think of floor depot?

bagi laa step by step tutorial... :D

Yaya,
Pahabaq...
Untuk 8X12 feet approx RM515 all in. Ada 2-3 keping backup, mana tau ada monster kerit kang....

Floor depot... kami tatau, tak nah survey.... Hat tu pakai floorboard kayu kan. Hat vinyl nih, kami terjumpa kat Houz Depot KD.... dok belek, SA tu kata mudah jer DIY... so teringin ler nak buat.

kami pon 1st time buat... tak terror lagi, malu aih nak bagi tutorial... Jenoh berlemoih ngan glue tu... 3 hari kaki aku itam2 mcm pakai inai Mekah yg comot...

Part potong nak kasi ngam2 tu mmg payah.... kena org jenis teliti ukoq tepat2 by milimiter.... tak leh agak2 bodo... vinyl ni nak kerat senang skit dr kayu... hang kelar pakai pisau, peh tu lipat.. dia senang putuih... kiranya kami tak spend apa pon for tools.... setakat piso lipat, pembaris besi...berus satu.

wah..best nyer..

mahal tak pakai lantai kayu compare marble or tiles?

HI Maz,

I think u tak perasan kot... sebab pic tu betol2 nampak mcm kayu kan??

But lin tak guna floorboard kayu.... Ini adalah VINYL flooring yg dibuat nampak ala2 kayu... Vinyl ni lebih kurang mcm tikor minyak gak... cuba lagi tebal n kukuh.... WHich is the reason why Lin choose to put this material in the kitchen instead of normal tiles or wood floorboard. Kayu takot terkopek ke apa kan.... so vinyl ni durable skit... Leh tahan ayaq....

Nampak mcm kayu floorbod real kann?

SO, nak compare against tiles or marbles.... itu depend.

Kalu Maz punya floor asal tu kosong, letak tiles or marble pon OK. Sekarang polished tiles yg anti stain dah murah, RM19 pon dapat.... Lagi nampak mewah.. shiny.. Lin suka polished tiles. And selection bykkk, direct dr warehouse.... harga OK...

But kalo case Lin, floor asal lin dah ada tiles.... jadi kalo nak ganti tiles lain, cost jadi tinggi sebab :
Upah remove tiles lama +
upah pasang tiles baru +
cost beli tiles baru = MAHAL

Jadi, better choice to beli vinyl floor bcoz :
NO upah remove tiles lama +
No upah pasang tiles baru +
Cost beli bahan sahaja = MURAH

Marbles... lin kurang suka, becoz dia suka calar, pudar.... and bila dah pudar... kena panggei org guna mesin special untuk polish dia... pakai mop & floor cleaner tak kan cukop.... cost pon tinggi... RM500-RM1000.... Ini contoh umah Lin skang ni.... Old marbles dah pudar....

Umah lin biasa sahaja... reno dapoq ajer.... the rest cuma make over skit ajer....

Had a really bad experience with bangla installer. I was doing a project kat condo. Every time he see me his price get higher for installation even while doing the job asking sure more money. All thislepas dia dah agree with the price. Finally I paid what he wanted and he kept one unopened box in his car and said not enough to complete the job luckily there was enough chips to make do, actually I was very sure I bought enough. Only.after he left I realize one box was missing. Is you guys ever come across this bangala name Roy & his partner dunno his name also bangala run the other direction. Anyway how muc.h did you buy your vinyl? I do supply & install 5.50. Don't worry I'm not have mr roy again.

Sorry, typing from the phone can't avoid the little mistakes.

Hi Doreen, sorry to hear your bad experience. I hope at least he did a good clean job...after all that. We bought it during a home expo, very super cheap less than rm3...

Did you buy during a sale this vinyl? 3 rm just the vinyl is good. How much is installation oh you did it yourself. What brand was your vinyl?

Skarang harga dah murah bermacam2 options n brand. But Quality penting. Sekarang sudah 2017, pasang since 2011...nampak elok ja tadak cela. Mmg berbaloi.
